Zilor celebrates significant achievements and reaffirms its commitment to sustainability, in alignment with the 2030 Agenda.
Since 2020, the company has expanded its bioenergy generation capacity, invested in youth education, and allocated resources to community development projects. It has also joined the UN Global Compact and adopted sustainable agricultural practices.
Looking ahead, Zilor is committed to decarbonization, reducing water withdrawal, and securing environmental certifications – demonstrating that economic growth can go hand in hand with social and environmental responsibility.
By joining the UN Global Compact and aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Zilor supports all 17 SDGs and reports relevant outcomes and commitments for the goals highlighted below:




Quality Education
To support community development and promote learning opportunities, Zilor invests in the education of young people in its areas of operation.
Our commitment: Foster the educational and socioemotional development of youth through the Always Learn Program in 100% of the regions where Zilor operates, with a focus on youth empowerment. Starting in 2023.
Status: Target achieved.

Gender Equality
To promote a respectful and inclusive environment, Zilor implemented a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Program, supported by a guiding policy that underpins its initiatives.
Our commitment: Strengthen the Zilor Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Program by 2024.
Status: Target achieved.

Clean Water and Sanitation
To ensure water availability and sustainable use, Zilor invests in systems that enable water treatment and reuse, helping to reduce overall water withdrawal.
Our commitment: Reduce water withdrawal in agro-industrial operations by 50% (measured in m³/ton of cane) by 2025.

Affordable and Clean Energy
To support the energy transition, Zilor generates and supplies renewable energy to the power grid. This energy is produced by burning biomass, a by-product of its operations.
Our commitment: Increase bioenergy generation capacity by 60% – enough to supply a city of over 1 million people – by 2024.
Status: Target achieved.

Decent Work and Economic Growth
To promote sustainable local economic growth and create productive jobs, Zilor has committed to aligning its practices with internationally recognized standards.
Our commitment: Join the UN Global Compact by 2024.
Status: Target achieved.


Reduced Inequalities
To help reduce inequality in the regions where it operates, Zilor directs incentivized tax resources to local community projects.
Our commitment: Allocate 100% of incentivized income tax resources to projects carried out in local communities, positively impacting job and income generation. Starting in 2021.
Status: Target achieved.

Sustainable Cities and Communities
To help build resilient and sustainable local economies, Zilor works with a network of local sugarcane suppliers and encourages compliance with recognized sustainability standards.
Our commitment: Ensure that 100% of the sugarcane sourced by Zilor and its partners meets internationally recognized sustainability standards (Bonsucro), starting in 2022 (including future expansions aligned with Bonsucro).

Climate Action
To help fight climate change, Zilor offers a portfolio of sustainable products that support the energy transition, including biofuels and decarbonization credits.
Our commitment: Contribute to decarbonization by avoiding 5.5 million tons of CO₂ emissions by 2030 through CBIOs – the equivalent of planting 38.5 million trees or creating a forest the size of approximately 385,000 soccer fields.

Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions
To ensure an effective, responsible, and inclusive company, Zilor has developed an ethics and compliance program that has matured over time, raising employee awareness of their rights, responsibilities, and expected behaviors.
Our commitment: Address 100% of reports received through the Ethics Hotline, starting in the 2023/2024 harvest.

Partnerships for the Goals
To reinforce its sustainability efforts, Zilor is committed to adopting internationally recognized environmental management standards.
Our commitment: Achieve ISO 14001 certification for all operating units by 2025.
